1. Check the host, not the logo
Read who uses which masts. If you are leaving EE for Smarty, you are moving radio network. If you are leaving O2 for giffgaff, you are not.
Leaving a network
Switch, keep the number, check coverage first.
The UK process is designed so you keep your number. The part people skip is the coverage check — especially in a valley town.
2. Run the official checker
Use a full postcode. In Frome, try the house and the workplace. Indoor stone walls still surprise people.
3. Open the new shop
Start the plan on the official site. UK providers can pull your number across when you text SWITCH to 75075, or you can ask your old network for a PAC.
4. Do not cancel first
Let the new provider complete the port. Cancelling early is how people lose the number for a week.
